I've had everyone practically declare war on me. Only Carthage declared war on him in the entire area. I'm having a similar scenario in my co-op campaign on Legendary with my friend. Rome units just make a complete and utter mockery of anything else in the game. They still have outrageous stats that dwarf the best units I can make, and the best units we've seen on the map at this point.

He has end-game units with game-breaking stats just 22 turns in.Įdit: Correction, they weren't Praetorian Guards, but they're Praetorians. I realize that if someone focuses primarily on military tech, he should have a stronger army than someone who spends a lot of time on economic/civil research.

These fragmented trees are allowing for some major exploits. I feel like we need to go back to the linear tech trees like Shogun 2. How can CA address this? There is no downside as his economy isn't affected at all despite focusing only on one chain in the Army tree, and with military units that impressively strong in 250 BC (way early-game) he's able to kill everything the Very Hard AI can possibly throw at him. It's only a few more turns before I'm sure he'll effortlessly decimate my armies while I'm still working on getting the next unit past regular "Hoplite."

While I'm in Greece, struggling to unify the peninsula under my banner, he's fielding two armies consisting ONLY of 8 stacks of Praetorians, and they're raping Northern Europe and North Africa. He rushed down one line in his army tech tree.Įach Praetorian costs ~143 upkeep, so they really aren't straining his economy. I hope CA sees this :/ I'm hardly 20 turns in to my "Very Hard" versus campaign and my friend (Rome) ALREADY has Praetorian Guards.
